Workshops 2008
If you wish to book a workshop, then please read this information first.
Our workshops have been incredibly popular in previous years so please book as early as possible to avoid disappointment. It is also worth booking as a reserve for a workshop as we often get cancellations due to illness, etc.
We hope there will be something for everyone in the range of workshops described below.
Ultra Thick Embossing - £10.00 - S*
This is a new workshop for 2008 which consists of using the new Cosmic Shimmer Ultra Thick Embossing Crystals, these come in the most amazing colours, which we will be using to make embellishments for cards.
Penny Black Cute & Cuddly - £10.00
Penny Black have once again introduced yet another new range of cute and cuddly rubber stamps for 2008, this proved to be one of our most successful workshops in 2007
Hero Arts Cards - £10.00
Hero Arts have done it again and produced some more wonderful rubber stamps for 2008, therefore we are going to designate a workshop solely to Hero Arts products.
Rubber Stamping for Beginners - £10.00
Join us for a fascinating insight into what can be achieved by using rubber stamps, including discovering the magic of basic embossing, the use of Marvi Le Plume pens, direct to paper technique, layering paper and card to create wonderful and original greetings cards.
All Kinds of Everything - £18.00 - S*
Hopefully there will be a card for every occasion in this particular workshop including birthdays, thank you, new house, congratulations, good luck, thinking of you, new baby, engagement, wedding & anniversary to name but a few.
Black & White - £10.00 - S*
Dramatic and contemporary monochromic cards continue to be as popular as ever.
Shaped cards - £10.00 - S*
This was a very popular workshop last year so we have decided to repeat it again and will include concertina, gatefold and tag cards.
Mens Cards - £10.00 - S*
We all struggle with mens birthday cards, why are they so difficult? Hopefully we can solve your problems and give you some new ideas.
Embellishments - £10.00 - S*
We will be using a selection of products including friendly plastic, shrink plastic, twinkling H2Os, and ultra thick embossing crystals to make embellishments for cards.
Cuttlebug - £10.00 - S*
Learn how to make cards using this popular machine.We will be using embossing folders and dies to make stunning cards.
Shrink Plastic - £10.00 - S*
Brought back by popular demand, we will be making embellishments for cards by using this amazing product with assorted ink pads, sakura stardust pens, coloured pencils and chalks.
Lesley Hardy - Tsukineko Inks - £18.00 - S*
Lesley Hardy from Personal Impressions using assorted inks including alcohol inks & Personnel Impressions rubber stamps, this workshop will give you time to make stunning images.
Anna Justice - Shrink Plastic
Anna makes a welcome return to Finishing Touches, some of you may remember her wonderful demonstrations from a few years ago & we have persuaded her to teach some workshops in addition to her demonstration downstairs in our shop on Friday 4th July from 10am to 3pm.
Workshop 1 - Shrink Plastic Flip Flops
Make fun and funky flip flop cards for all ages, using shrink plastic, rubber stamps, paper punches, wire & beads.Once you start you wont stop!
Workshop 2 - Shrink Plastic
Take your shrink plastic to the next level. Anna will show you what products you can and cant use, how to stamp into shrink creating wonderful textures and how to bend shrink, making wonderful embellishments to go onto your cards or use in scrap booking.
Fusible Fibres Free Demonstration Friday 4th July, 10am to 3pm
Anna will be demonstrating the use of fusible fibres to bring a textured feel to your hand made cards, they are quick, simple to use, come in great colours and there is no wastage!She will show you how to make the most of this wonderful product from stamping, embossing, punches and peel-offs.Great for card making as well as scrapbooking.
Due to the number of customers who have commented that the card making workshops are not long enough and they would like to craft for a longer length of time we are now introducing daytime workshops starting at 10am and finishing at 3pm at a cost of £18, lunch can be arranged at a further cost of £2.50 per person.
Lynn Bowman Acetate Mini Album
One of the latest trends is using acetate, so in this class learn how to make a mini scrap book with acetate and scrap book papers.
Mini Star Book Album
An unusual mini scrap book which opens out to form a star shape, great for photos of all those special occasions.
Jewellery Making with Claire Foster
Making a Necklace - Beginners
Learn basic jewellery making techniques using tigertail wire and glass beads.Instructions will be given on how to construct your necklace including using crimp beads and attaching a clasp.
Jewellery Making with leather, cord and ribbon - Beginners
Use leather, cotton cord or ribbon to create a modern styled necklace with glass beads. You will learn techniques for working with these mediums along with basic jewellery making techniques.
Bag Candy - Beginners
Use silver wire, chain and glass beads to make Bag Candy a hanging decoration for key rings and bags, etc. The basic techniques of wire working will be taught so that participants can go on to make their own jewellery using wire and chains.
Introduction to Bead Weaving
Bead weaving is the art of creating detailed jewellery using a needle and thread with seed beads. In this workshop we will be introducing you to this addictive craft by making a beautiful necklace using the Spiral Rope stitch. Please note you will need your glasses/magnifier for this event as we will be using fine needles and small beads! Suitable for complete beginners who are able to use a needle and thread and follow instructions.
Parchment Courses
We also offer beginners and intermediate parchment courses. The beginners course comprises a set of 5 lessons from 10.00am to 4.00pm, once a month for 5 months in the workshop. For further details, please see Alison Bone at the shop or phone her on 01803 528663. We would recommend you to bring your own tweezers and scissors if you think you will struggle using the workshop equipment.
S* indicates that you will need to have attended a beginners workshop or have had stamping experience if you wish to attend them. This is because there will not be time to review the basics and will ensure that everyone gets the most value from the workshop. Our workshops are suitable for a minimum of 6 people and a maximum of 8 people. Please telephone 01803 862244 to book your chosen workshops. We require a deposit of £5 per person per workshop booking; this will be refunded if we cancel the workshop or if you cancel 4 days before the class.
